Residents of small and rural communities receive an extra 10 percent supplement beyond the base rebate amount. This means a family of four will receive a pollution price rebate, called the Climate Action Incentive payment, in the following amounts:Įight out of 10 households receive more money back through the pollution price rebate than they pay as a result of the federal pollution pricing system, with low- and middle-income households benefitting the most. On January 15, 2024, people living in provinces where the federal fuel charge applies will receive their first pollution pricing rebate of the year through direct bank deposit or by cheque. The direct proceeds from the federal pollution price are returned to the jurisdiction from which they were collected to help with cost-of-living challenges while keeping the incentive to pollute less.
